Last night Michael and I went to hear Alison Krauss & Union Station in their first concert stop of a new tour (who knew, Jackson?). It's our second time to hear them and they easily receive our "best concert we've ever seen" declaration. It really is astounding how much better they are in real life than on their recordings. Jerry Douglas, who plays the Dobro, is unreal, her voice is so haunting and clear, and the banjo and violin are just amazing...and it doesn't hurt that the bassist is not only horribly talented, but also horribly good looking. I'll leave it at that.
It was a wonderful last date in fair Jackson, Mississippi. Such a nice evening for us - we laughed and cried and felt both the weight of the days flying by and all we have to do, and the weightlessness of not having kids for a night and just being US. I like us.
And we vowed to never miss an opportunity to take us to hear AKUS in concert if it was even remotely possible.

okay, I had to mapquest the new digs and...best-location-ever. seriously. what a fun part of town!
i know, right? i LOVE where we are...metrolink is just behind our back yard fence, we can ride bikes to forest park through wash u. and never ride on a real street, just minutes from girls' school, michael can hop on the IB and get to north county to work in 15, sister is 2 miles down big bend, it really couldn't be more perfect. and it really seems to be a fun, kid-friendly neighborhood. you need to come see us really soon.
